Anti-White Nationalism Working Group

In 2019, a group of Engage New York members identified the need to address the rise of white nationalist and white supremacist activities that were increasing in different parts of the State - from Buffalo to Long Island, Ithaca to the Adirondack Park. This was a call to action for our network. In 2020, in partnership with the Daphne Foundation, we began hosting a series of meetings to understand the issue and to develop a plan of action for foundations interested in addressing the rise of this activity together. In 2021, our network partnered with Political Research Associates to put together a report and recommendations. The report was released in late 2021.

In 2024, with support from our members, Engage New York launched the Anti-White Nationalism Pooled Fund. This is an aligned funding initiative to support organizations that are strengthening an ecosystem of defense for communities across New York, as well as confronting the complex, systemic threat of white nationalism.
